May

Sorry about the delay in the last newsletter. I finally found the setting on the website that was causing problems!

trying to conquer the practice demons

For those of you that don't know my situation, I'm still trying to convince my 4-year-old that violin is something he really wants to do. So, recognizing that I can't give him anything I don't have myself, I've been concentrating on overcoming my own long-held practice demons. As a kid I took piano for three years without much practicing, and I played trumpet for 5 years with a bit more practicing, but I'm sure nothing consistent. So now, spurred on by Teacher Kendall's infamous letter, I'm on a good solid one-month streak of daily practice in front of the kids.

Update

Hi Everyone,

Dale pointed out to me that I had a different schedule on the studio calendar than the one I mentioned last night. I recently found out that we do have a space for our 4:30 Theory class on May 6 - room 106 in the Music Building, so that class WILL be taking place (and has been added to the calendar). So, to clarify: April 29th is a Play-in in Kilworth with no 4:30 class and May 6 is a Play-in in Schneebeck with a 4:30 class in room 106. Thanks, Dale!

sharmusic.com has free shipping through 4/30

If you are purchasing a violin case, this may be a big savings, as shipping oversized items usually costs extra.
(So, I took advantage of this offer and bought an inexpensive 1/32 case for Satoko's foamalin.)

Let's hear how your practicing is going!!!

As you can see, this is a blog entry from Hayley's account. You can now post a blog entry to the site that will show up on the front page. Others can leave comments for you, and post their own stories and insights as well!

After you log in, click "My blog" on the left side of the page. Then click "post new blog entry". You can then type your Title and Body - select Preview to see what your entry looks like before it's submitted to the front page, or Submit to publish it right away.

Practicing

Hope you all had a nice spring break. I wanted to remind everyone that April 22 is our Group Concert at 5 pm in Kilworth. Unlike other concerts, there will not be a reception afterwards, although the building is not used by another group until 7 pm so you can stick around and talk if you'd like.

A few reminders and a long list of dates....

Hi Suzuki Parents,

Tomorrow (Tuesday, March 25) is our Ensemble Concert in Kilworth Chapel at 5 pm. There are no group classes as a result. Please bring a snack to share (leave in the basement before the recital) - there were no sign up sheets, so please just bring a drink, snack or dessert of your choice.

There are no lessons on Thursday or Friday of next week (March 27 and 28). The whole following week is Spring Break. The Monday and Tuesday following break, there will be only group classes - no private lessons.
